  Handler threadHandle = new Handler(Looper.getMainLooper());

  threadHandle .post(new Runnable()

  {

   @Override

   public void run()

   {

    Chat.listMessages.add(m);

                            //listMessages is an array variable declared in the class Chat

    Chat.adapter.notifyDataSetChanged();

                          //adapter is a Listview Adapter declared in the class Chat

   }

  });
